Remove one item from your home to live longer, says a 92-year-old cardiologist

A 92-year-old cardiologist offers a simple tip: remove one thing from your home to help you live longer. This isn’t about tidying up but about cutting out stress.

Stress can harm your heart and overall health. By getting rid of things that trigger stress, whether a cluttered object, a toxic relationship, or a bad habit, you can lower blood pressure and feel healthier.

Doctors agree that managing stress is key for a long life. Regular exercise, a balanced diet, and good relationships also contribute to heart health.

Yevgeniy Chazov, a celebrated Soviet cardiologist, lived 92 years, and according to some, his secret was living in peace with yourself and your surrounding.

Chazov believed well-being comes from calmness, honesty, forgiveness, and having a sense of purpose.

One surprising thing he recommended removing from your home? The television. He argued that stress, not fat or sugar, is the greatest threat to the heart. He also believed that constant exposure to bad news and negative programs quietly poisons your mood and weakens both your body and your mind.

Allegedly, Chazov’s life lessons for heart and health were:

  • Forgive: He never held grudges against anyone and advised many to let go of the negativity.
  • Live with purpose: Every person should have goals, no matter how small or seemingly not that significant.
  • Manage emotional load: Be able to recognize what causes the stress in your life and try to manage it at the best of your ability.
  • Eat without guilt: He believed that strict diets were not as efficient as eating many things in moderation.
  • Avoid negativity: Always choose your peace before anything else.
  • Protect your nervous system: Optimism and mental strength are key to preventing heart disease.
