These Smart Shoes Are Helping Visually Impaired People Move More Confidently

An Austrian technology company has introduced an innovative smart shoe designed to support visually impaired individuals in everyday navigation. The product, called InnoMake, focuses on improving safety, confidence, and independence.

The shoes are equipped with ultrasonic sensors that can detect obstacles ahead, ranging from nearby objects to several meters away. When something is detected, the system gently alerts the wearer through vibration or sound, helping them adjust their path in time.

A built-in rechargeable battery powers the technology and can last up to one week on a single charge, making it practical for daily use. Charging is simple and takes only a few hours.

Users can personalize their experience through a free smartphone app, where alert distance and notification preferences can be adjusted to match individual needs.

Designed for real-world conditions, the shoes are water-resistant and smart enough to deactivate the sensors when the wearer is sitting, helping conserve battery life.

InnoMake shoes are currently available for trial experiences in select stores, allowing users to explore how smart technology can enhance mobility and everyday comfort.
